Thimbleby Shooting Ground lies in an unspoiled idyllic rural setting on the edge of the Thimbleby Estate, North Yorkshire. Surrounded by thousands of acres of heath and woodlands, the area around the shooting ground has been described as one of the most beautiful in the North.

The shooting ground is managed by David Cutts (CPSA) and offers two separate shooting areas, comprising of over 15 stands offering access for the disabled, ample parking and toilets facilities on site.

Every type of clay 'bird' and 'ground game' can be presented to suit both the novice and the experienced shot. In addition to our double trap stands, we can generate the most testing 'sequences' of up to 100 birds each, at regularly changed angles and speeds. Simulated drives including the now famous grouse drive 'Hobson's Choice' reputed to be the best and most realistic anywhere.

Enjoy the challenge of the high clay pheasants at Thimbleby, of rising teal, bolting rabbits, driven grouse and of bursting partridges followed by the welcome of our clubhouse. Thimbleby Shooting Ground offers a personal service using experienced instructors and guides, tailored to suit your individual requirements. Please refer to the tuition page.

Thimbleby Shooting Ground is open for tuition, practice, corporate and charity events throughout the year and floodlight on Tuesday evening during winter period.  The infectious enthusiasm of everyone here will ensure that whatever your age or standard you will not forget the Thimbleby "Experience" under the guidance of our resident coaches

SIMULATED GAME DAYS

Birds without the Feathers!

Thimbleby is the ideal location and has the perfect topography to simulate the thrill and excitement of a real days shoot!

Why not improve your skills before heading out on to the moor....no closed season!

What is a simulated Game Day? - As we say Birds without the Feathers! It is as close to a traditional driven game day, but substituting game birds for clay pigeons!

All levels of experience can be catered for, enabling the complete beginner to enjoy shooting with the most experienced game shot. Positioning of the shooter and the drives ensures that all will thoroughly enjoy the day.

The event will consist of a number of drives with "birds" flushed to the guns, singly and in flurries; in many directions and at varying angles of elevation.

Days available: Monday, Thursday, Friday.

Do you cater for individuals? – Give us a call there maybe a group you could join.
